Shane Cox dumped wrapped dead at the Melton property in doona Melbourne

A man is on the lookout for a body found abandoned in Melbourne, covered in a doona.

A man is being sought in connection with a body discovered wrapped in a doona in Melbourne's west on Wednesday.

Shane Cox, 39, was found dead at the Melton property around 11 a.m. on the day in question, with Homicide Squad investigators combing the home for evidence for more than 24 hours.

The residents of the house, a man, woman, and two small children, had recently mounted CCTV cameras.

In connection with the incident, police have stated that they want to talk with Klay Holland, a 30-year-old man.

The Delahey man has been seen in Melton, Ararat, and Stawell.

Anyone who sees him should call Triple Zero immediately.

According to neighbors, the land has become a hotspot for crime.

After a shooting, a man was arrested at the unit a year ago.

"There was a gunshot, and then the cops came around and handed us letters... because the guy had been arrested," one neighbor explained.

A neighbor commented, "We're all pretty darn scared about it because it's so close to home."

Detectives are still investigating the cause of death, although it is being viewed as suspicious.

Officers are looking at whether the death is related to the shooting from last year.

They're also keeping a close eye on the cameras mounted on the house, as well as CCTV from nearby homes, which allegedly captured suspicious cars and activity on the street on Tuesday night.
