CNN contributor attacks the network's coverage of ivermectin.

Mary Katharine Ham, a CNN contributor, sided with Joe Rogan over her own network, tweeting that it was incorrect to refer to the medicine ivermectin he was taking as a "horse dewormer."

Rogan began taking the medication in September after being diagnosed with coronavirus — which he said was given by his doctor. It has not been demonstrated to be effective against coronavirus, and its usage in the general population has been questioned.

"Rogan is correct that claiming he took horse dewormer when he did not is dishonest," she added Friday. "It was seductive to dunk on him for a lot of people, so they went with that rather than sticking to the more credible 'Hey, this anti-parasitic is not advised for COVID treatment.'

The medicine has been used medically in humans for decades, and its discoverers were awarded the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Ivermectin is also available in a horse-specific formulation.

Rogan brought the network to task for its portrayal of him in a scathing interview with CNN's top medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta on Wednesday.

"Does it upset you that the news network for which you work flat-out lied about my horse dewormer use?" Rogan inquired.

"They ought not to have stated it," Gupta said.

"How did they do that?" Rogan inquired.

"I'm not sure," Gupta stated.
