Australia was saddened to learn of Sam Newman's wife's unexpected death this weekend at the age of 50.
According to the Herald Sun, the AFL legend discovered Amanda Brown on the floor of their Docklands apartment on Saturday evening.
Emergency personnel were notified around 8 p.m., but she was unresponsive.
Newman and Brown had been married for two decades prior to their November wedding.
Australia responds to the passing of a shock.
“I'm devastated; I'm speechless,” Newman told the Herald Sun.

Sam Newman and Brown married last year in their luxurious Docklands flat, with only immediate relatives and friends in attendance. Greg Evans, host of Perfect Match, officiated the ceremony, and Kevin King stepped in as Newman's best man.
The 75-year-old married for the fourth time, with the wedding taking place just days after Brown turned 50.
Newman is the father of three sons, one of whom photographed his fourth wedding.
The couple first came to public attention in 2001, when they were photographed celebrating New Year's Eve at Crown Casino.
Brown stayed out of the public eye, although Newman often faced harsh criticism for remarks made on social media or via his podcast.
Brown's death is supposed to be investigated and a report prepared for the coroner.
