Woolworths Dhanni Henricks suicide note, even Freddy Kruger would be afraid

He stowed his Woolworths outfit and a suicide note in his backpack: A heartbroken mother recounts her son's sad final hours.

A Queensland mother has expressed her sadness and fury following her son's terrible death while working at Woolworths store.

Dhanni Henricks describes herself as "devastated and numb" following the suicide of her 22-year-old son, Zachary, on Wednesday, September 22.

According to the mother, her son was under "indescribable stress" while delivering orders for internet clients at a Queensland Woolworths store.

According to her, Zach compared his job to "a nightmare that even Freddy Kruger would fear."

According to Dhanni, Zach made the decision to terminate his life on September 21 during a particularly difficult day. He penned two suicide letters to his pals, which he subsequently posted.

Zach then washed, pressed, and folded his Woolworths uniforms and placed them in a bag with another suicide note that he left later that night at the shop where he worked.

At his residence, a farewell note was left.

"He couldn't bear the prospect of returning to work," Dhanni explained.

"He laundered his work uniforms - washed, pressed, and folded everything - and returned them to the office on a Tuesday night when he was certain no one would be there.

The letters he sent to his closest pals were forwarded to us by them. Additionally, he left a copy at home, and it's all work, work, work.'

According to Dhanni, Zach referred to his employment as "a horror that even Freddy Kruger would fear."

"I believe Zach may have returned the uniforms as a'mud in your eye' type of thing," she explained.

"A few hours after learning of his death, his pals received their messages in the mail. It was abysmal. " On the morning Dad died, the police read us the note he left with his Woolworths outfit, but I don't recall it now. Everything is a blur. The cops are still in possession of the note."

Zach "was a much-loved part of our team and will be greatly missed," a Woolworths representative said.

The store will conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his employment up to the time of his death.

'Exit, dear.'

Dhanni stated that Zach had been elevated to a supervisory position in the week preceding his death.

"His manager took a three-week vacation. They pushed Zach into a management position for which he was unprepared, which pushed him over the line," she explained.

"He'd been having difficulties at work for some time. "

He claimed to despise Woolworths, yet he was just scratching the surface with us. He did not inform us of the severity of the situation.

"I responded, 'Just leave, dear, just leave.' However, he stated that I am unable to do so since doing so would be a betrayal of the team and would result in further understaffing. He was unable to exit Woolworths, but he could take his own life."

Dhanni expressed her wish that he was aware of the extent to which Zach's Woolworths employment affected him.

"He never cried in front of us; I had no idea," she explained.

"I am a mature woman who has been through a great deal. I can't image how stressful that would be for a teenager. It's so heinous that I can't even fathom it." It's very awful. He will never again walk the face of the world; [I will never] touch or look at him.

"He was a stunning young man."

'Affectionate, beaming face'

Dhanni and her husband, William, conducted a memorial for Zach last week, inviting friends and neighbors to join in celebrating his life.

It was then she discovered the extent to which their son had impacted the lives of so many others, including Woolworths shoppers.

"At the memorial, there was an older couple in their late sixties or early seventies," she explained.

"They approached me, and she was holding a potted orchard, and I asked, 'How did you know Zachary?'

They claimed to shop at the Woolworths store where he worked and described his features as familiar, friendly, and smiling.

"They described him as a well-behaved young man. They had no idea who he was; they were simply shoppers, and he was online. However, they observed his smiling face as they walked throughout the store and saw how handsome he was."

Dhanni stated that knowing that a good Samaritan was with Zach in the minutes following his death has offered her immense consolation.

"He saw things happen and raced to Zach, doing everything he could to assist him," she explained.

"He was able to inform the investigators that he died instantly and without suffering, which has given me peace. I was distraught as I considered his final moments.

I've never met this good Samaritan, but I'd like to express my gratitude for attempting to assist Zach and being there for him."

Dhanni stated that his son had been strategizing about his future in the months preceding his death.

"He intended to remain," she explained.

"He had received his COVID immunization, purchased a new automobile, and was planned to relocate next year."

He had his own studio here and was equipped with everything he need.

For years, the Air Force Cadet was a significant part of his life; he was excellent at it and he adored it.

When he was ten years old, he knew he wanted to be an Air Force Cadet – and he was going to join the Air Force in January.

Zach's true passion was assisting others.

"He was an old soul who listened to 1940s music, which we adored. He adored smooth jazz and was a gifted orator. "Extremely well-spoken," Dhanni continued.

'He had never been in love before.'

"Now that I'm walking out in the driveway each morning and not seeing his car, it hits me square in the heart that he's gone. Or when I lock the door that we always left unlocked while he was gone. It's those inconspicuous reminders."

She claimed that she is at a loss for how to pick up the pieces following her son's untimely death, adding that Zach's siblings are equally sad.

'A great deal has been taken away'

"Our son was just 21 years old; he had not yet encountered so many things," she explained.

"He had never ever experienced love. We have been robbed of so much, and you have no option." We have an older daughter who recently relocated to NSW and is unable to return due to border restrictions. Our seventeen-year-old son is in his final year of high school; this occurred during the first week of his summer vacation, and he has been unable to return to school. It's simply too complicated. This occurred at my residence when my husband, younger son, and I were present. Since then, the three of us have remained here.

"My youngest simply does not want to leave us; I'm not sure how I'll deal in the future."

Dhanni stated that since publishing her son's tale on Facebook, she has been motivated to take on Woolworths and ensure that another employee does not suffer the same fate as her son.

"With so many other individuals contacting us to tell their stories, I'm sure my son would be opposed to that as well," she explained.

"Hundreds of people have contacted me via Zach's memorial page on Facebook to relate their experiences shopping at Woolworths and other supermarkets, and I believe Zach would want me to assist them.

I was brought up with an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth mentality. "This is every parent's worst fear," I told my husband. "I want to wear banners around my neck and hang myself to a pillar outside Woolworths just to let everyone know what happened to him."

Dhanni has stated that she received a $5,000 payment in her bank account from Woolworths in the weeks following Zach's death.

Additionally, she received $2,000 in Woolworths gift cards after requesting assistance with catering Zach's memorial service.

Woolworths assisted the family financially in accordance with its grief policy.

Woolworths makes a statement

According to a Woolworths spokeswoman, the retailer is unable to comment on the circumstances surrounding Zach's death.

"We are heartbroken by Zach's untimely death and our sympathies are with his family through this terribly trying time," the representative said.

"Zach was a cherished part of our team who will be greatly missed."

We have conveyed our heartfelt sympathies to the family and have been in contact with them frequently in recent weeks to give our care and practical assistance. "

As far as we are aware, the accident is the subject of a police investigation, which we will gladly support in any manner possible.

We would be remiss if we made any other comments at this time."

Woolworths has arranged for counsellors to visit the shop where Zach worked and is continuing to provide assistance to its team members.
