TURLOCK, Calif. — An 18-year-old Los Banos man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal shooting in Turlock early Sunday morning, according to the Turlock Police Department.

Police identified the suspect as Corey Pollard Jr., 18, of Los Banos. He was taken into custody at the scene of the shooting and later booked on suspicion of murder.

Turlock Shooting Reported on Park Street

The shooting occurred on August 9, 2026, in the 1100 block of Park Street in Turlock.

Officers were dispatched to the area at approximately 2:26 a.m. following a report of a shooting. When police arrived, they found an adult man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Emergency medical personnel responded and attempted to assist the victim, but he was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities had not publicly identified the victim as of the latest police update.

Corey Pollard Jr. Arrested at Scene

Police secured the area following the shooting and took Corey Pollard Jr. into custody at the scene.

Based on information developed during the initial investigation, Pollard was later booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on suspicion of murder.

The arrest does not constitute a conviction, and the allegations against Pollard have not yet been adjudicated in court.

Police have not disclosed what investigators believe led to the shooting. Authorities also have not publicly revealed whether Pollard and the victim knew each other or what relationship, if any, existed between them.

Investigation Into Fatal Turlock Shooting Continues

Acting Turlock Police Chief Steve Rodrigues expressed condolences to the victim's family and said investigators would continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting.

Rodrigues emphasized that although an arrest has already been made, the homicide investigation remains active.

Detectives are expected to continue gathering evidence and interviewing potential witnesses as they work to establish what happened before gunfire erupted on Park Street.

Authorities have not yet announced a possible motive.
