An investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad found that Altieri was speeding when he was driving north on Richmond and "failed to properly navigate the roadway." The car hit a pole.

A 26-year-old driver of a 2013 silver Infiniti G37X was killed when he hit a tree on the westbound Jackie Robinson Parkway, between Forest Park Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue, just before 10 p.m. Friday, police said.

EMTs took the driver, whose name hasn't been released, to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, cops say. None of the people around were hurt.

Police are still looking into both incidents, they say.
