Former OnlyFans model Courtney Clenney has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 2022 fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, Christian Obumseli, bringing one of Miami’s most closely watched social-media celebrity criminal cases to an end without a murder trial.
Clenney, 30, entered the guilty plea in a Miami-Dade County courtroom on Monday, August 10, 2026. She was sentenced to six years in prison followed by five years of probation under a plea agreement that reduced the second-degree murder charge she had previously faced.
Because Clenney has been jailed since her arrest on August 10, 2022, she will receive credit for approximately four years already served. Her attorneys estimate she could have roughly 18 to 20 months left in custody, although the precise release date will depend on how Florida corrections authorities calculate her sentence.
Courtney Clenney Accepts Plea Deal in Christian Obumseli Killing
Clenney, who used the name Courtney Tailor online and built a large following on Instagram and OnlyFans, had been awaiting trial on a second-degree murder charge over the death of 27-year-old Christian Obumseli.
Obumseli was fatally stabbed inside the couple's luxury apartment in Miami's Edgewater neighborhood on April 3, 2022. Clenney acknowledged causing the fatal injury but had long maintained that she acted in self-defense during a confrontation with her boyfriend.
Her attorneys argued that Clenney had been involved in an abusive relationship and feared for her safety. Prosecutors presented a sharply different account, describing Obumseli as a victim of domestic violence and pointing to videos and other evidence they said documented escalating aggression by Clenney during the relationship.
The conflicting accounts were expected to become central issues in a highly publicized trial. Instead, the plea agreement avoided the uncertainty of putting the case before a jury.

Under the agreement approved by the court, Clenney pleaded guilty to manslaughter rather than proceeding to trial on second-degree murder.

- Six years in state prison
- Credit for time served since August 10, 2022
- Five years of probation after her release
- A requirement to undergo mental-health evaluation and treatment
Had Clenney been convicted of second-degree murder at trial, NBC Miami reported that she could have faced as much as 30 years in prison.
The plea therefore substantially reduces her potential remaining prison exposure.
Christian Obumseli's Family Addresses the Court
Members of Obumseli's family attended the sentencing hearing and described the lasting emotional consequences of his death.
A statement delivered for his mother focused on the birthdays, holidays, conversations and other moments the family will never experience with him. Clenney became emotional during the family's remarks but did not personally address the court during the hearing.
Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said prosecutors reached the agreement after consultation with Obumseli's family.
The State Attorney's Office said the plea represented Clenney accepting responsibility for Obumseli's death after years of litigation surrounding the case.

The Courtney Clenney case attracted national attention soon after Obumseli's death because of Clenney's large social-media presence and the complicated evidence surrounding the couple's relationship.
Police responded to the couple's Miami apartment following the April 2022 stabbing. Investigators later obtained body-camera footage, surveillance recordings and other digital evidence related to the couple.
Videos made public during the investigation showed Clenney striking Obumseli during previous incidents. Prosecutors argued those recordings supported their assertion that the fatal confrontation was part of an escalating pattern of violence.
Clenney's defense maintained that those incidents did not tell the complete story of the relationship and planned to argue that she acted to protect herself when Obumseli was killed.
Courtney Clenney Case Ends Before Murder Trial
Clenney had remained jailed without bond while lawyers spent several years fighting over evidence, expert testimony and other legal issues ahead of trial.
The case also produced separate computer-related charges involving Clenney and her parents after prosecutors accused them of improperly accessing Obumseli's laptop. Those charges were eventually dropped after a judge found that prosecutors had improperly accessed material protected by attorney-client privilege.
The manslaughter plea now resolves the central criminal case over Obumseli's death.
