The moment real estate agent Matthew Brian Ramsay was arrested for a brutal stabbing was caught on camera.

A well-known real estate agent in Sydney was caught on camera after a woman was stabbed in Dover Heights.

Police are said to have arrested a former "hot shot" real estate agent on a Sydney street after an alleged stabbing.

The man who is accused of stabbing a mother outside her Sydney home was the best man at her wedding. He used to be a real estate agent and helped close deals worth billions of dollars.

Matthew Brian Ramsay did not leave the cells at Waverley Local Court on Tuesday morning after he was charged with attacking a mother of two, Helen Coulston.

According to court documents, the 45-year-old woman was stabbed in the chest after answering the door at her $4.5 million home in Dover Heights around 12:30 p.m. on Monday.

Now, it has come out that Mr. Ramsay is a close friend of Ms. Coulston's family.

Walt Coulston, the husband of the alleged victim, told The Daily Telegraph that his wife was doing "the best she can" to get better after being stabbed.

He also told the press Mr. Ramsay was the best man at their wedding and the Godfather of their children.

Mr. Coulston said that the man who is said to have attacked his wife knew the family.

"How do you think I feel?" he asked. "He was the best man at our wedding and the godfather of our children.

On Tuesday morning, defense lawyer Andrew O'Brien told Magistrate Jacqueline Milledge about the case, but Mr. Ramsay did not show up in court.

He has been charged with trying to kill himself by hurting or killing another person.

Mr. O'Brien told the court that his client was also accused of stealing from a store.

"Yes, there's a big difference," he said.

Mr. O'Brien didn't ask for the real estate agent to be released on bail. Instead, he asked that the charge of grievous bodily harm be put off until October.

But court records show that Mr. Ramsay was charged with theft in July after it was said that he stole snacks worth $31 from an Ampol Foodary.

Mr. Ramsay is said to have stolen a Snickers bar, two Oak brand flavored milks, a package of Mars pods chocolates, and two Ice brand flavored milk drinks.

His lawyer told the judge that he will file a mental health application to try to get the theft charge dropped.

For the application, Mr. Ramsay will have to go to court on September 5.

Mr. O'Brien said, "If the Mental Health application doesn't work, it will be a plea of guilty."

When Ms. Coulson screamed in pain, a nearby tradesman heard her and ran over to help.

Peter Haramis told NCA NewsWire that he started running as soon as he heard her screams get louder.

"All she could do was scream, 'Help me! Help! He's going to kill me!' " I then began to run up the hill.

"He kind of looked at me and froze for a second, so I knew I had to run toward him. I have no idea what will happen."

But then the woman got the knife away from the man and threw it on the grass past Mr. Haramis.

He said, "I picked up the knife, and then he started walking toward me."

"She got up, ran into the house, and locked the door behind her.

"He was just coming up to me and saying, "Give me the knife."

I said: 'No, you're not getting it.' "

The man just calmly turned around and started walking up the hill to his car."

Mr. Haramis called the police and an ambulance right away, and then he followed the man to his car to find out what it looked like.

A short time after that, Ramsay was caught on Campbell Pde in Bondi.

Ms. Coulston is doing well in the hospital and is expected to get better completely.
