NORTH ARLINGTON, New Jersey — Authorities are investigating a shooting that left two people injured on Ridge Road in North Arlington on Sunday night, July 19, 2026.

Police responded to the area shortly before 9 p.m. following reports of gunfire outside a bar. Officials confirmed that two people were shot, although their identities, ages, and medical conditions had not been publicly released as of Monday morning.

North Arlington Mayor Dan Pronti said the North Arlington Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office were jointly investigating the shooting. Pronti said the conditions of the two victims were not immediately known.

Large Police Response on Ridge Road

The shooting prompted a significant emergency response involving officers and first responders from several jurisdictions.

Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Detectives Jeff Angermeyer said the shooting occurred on Ridge Road and that the prosecutor’s Major Crimes Unit was working with North Arlington police.

Police departments from neighboring municipalities, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and detectives from the prosecutor’s office were also present at the scene shortly before 10 p.m.

Video from the neighborhood showed officers blocking portions of Ridge Road while investigators processed the area. Residents were advised to avoid the location as police continued working at the scene through the night.

CBS New York also reported that the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office was investigating a shooting that occurred in North Arlington on Sunday evening.

Two Victims’ Conditions Remain Unknown

Authorities have not released information about the nature or severity of the victims’ injuries. It is also unclear whether the victims were customers, employees, pedestrians or people otherwise connected to the nearby business.

No information has been officially released regarding a possible suspect, motive or the circumstances leading up to the gunfire.

Authorities had also not announced any arrests at the time of publication.

Although some social media accounts circulated additional claims about the incident, those details had not been confirmed by North Arlington police or the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. Officials urged the public to rely on verified information released by investigating agencies.

Investigation Led by Bergen County Major Crimes Unit

The involvement of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit indicates that county investigators are assisting local authorities with evidence collection, witness interviews and other aspects of the investigation.

Investigators are expected to review surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residences, examine physical evidence recovered from the scene and interview anyone who may have witnessed the shooting.

Officials have not said whether the shooting was targeted or whether there is any continuing threat to the North Arlington community.
