Runner viciously sucker-punched another runner during a high school track event
During a race at a high school track and field carnival, a runner slumped to the ground after being violently assaulted by another athlete.
Over the weekend, a furious sucker-punch was launched during a high school track race in Florida, America.
According to the New York Post, the punch occurred during Saturday's Tohopekaliga Tiger Invitational in Kissimmee. The incident occurred during a 1600m race, according to Canadian Running Magazine.
According to TMZ, witnesses stated that the athlete who threw the punch was not participating in the race. He was reportedly standing on the track when he was instructed to move out of the way by the runner in first place – who was eventually punched.
Instead of continuing forward on the next lap, the athlete apparently obstructed the first-place runner, who shoved him over.
As though in retribution, the black-clad athlete pursued him and punched him in the head.
It was not immediately clear whether any criminal charges had been filed in connection with the event.
According to Running Magazine, police were summoned in connection with the incident, but it was not immediately clear whether any charges had been made.
