At a Grateful Dead tribute band concert at Citi Field, a man dies while attempting a body flip.
According to police sources, a man died Friday while attempting a body flip on a Citi Field balcony after a concert by a Grateful Dead tribute band.
First responders were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:05 p.m., according to police.
Rescuers said they discovered the man, described as a Brooklyn resident in his 40s, inside the stadium with injuries consistent with a fall, according to law enforcement sources.
According to a police source, he tried a body flip, dropped, and landed on the balcony below. According to the source, the landing occurred on concrete.
The victim was rushed to Queens' New York Presbyterian Hospital but was pronounced dead.
Citi Field hosted a performance by Dead & Company on Friday night. The band contains former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann, among others.
