A French basketball player with an interesting name gets a lot of attention.
Steeve Ho You Fat has been a professional basketball player in France for more than ten years.
Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson, two possible top picks in next year's draft, were shown to the American basketball world on Tuesday when the G League Ignite team played France's Metropolitans 92.
As Wembanyama scored 37 points and Henderson scored 28, NBA fans turned their attention to another French basketball player, Steeve Ho You Fat. The power forward went viral right away.
Ho You Fat was born in Cayenne, French Guiana. Since 2008, he has played professional basketball in France. He has played for Cholet Basket, Olympique Antibes, ALM Evreux Basket, Chorale Roanne Basket, BC Orchie, Rouen Metropole Basket, ALM Evreux Basket and Metropolitans 92.
This is Ho You Fat's second full season with the Mets. Last season, he averaged 3.2 points and 1.9 rebounds.
As Ho You Fat went viral, he talked about his sudden rise to fame on Instagram.
He wrote on his Instagram Stories, "It looks like they really want that jersey."
Wembanyama, a 7-foot-2 center, is expected to be the first player picked in the draft next year. He scored 37 points, made seven three-pointers, blocked five shots, and grabbed four boards.
Before the game, he told The Associated Press, "I'm going to tell you something that's been going on in my life since I was a kid, even before I played basketball." "I've always tried to do different things. I'm not even talking about sports. I always try to be unique and do something that has never been done before, no matter what field I'm in. And this is how things really went in my life. I have no idea where it came from. I think it was in me from birth. I've always tried to be different. That's the word for it: unique."
