Flavor Flav is being held on a domestic assault accusation in a Las Vegas neighborhood.
Flavor Flav is facing a domestic violence allegation following an alleged altercation with his girlfriend last month in suburban Las Vegas.
The 62-year-old rapper, born William Drayton Jr., was arrested on Oct. 5 in connection with a quarrel that occurred the night before, authorities said. According to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Henderson Municipal Court, he is accused of grasping or poking his alleged victim in the face and wresting a phone from her grasp inside a home in the city's Green Valley neighborhood.
Flavor Flav was freed from jail the same day he was arrested on a $3,000 bond.
"[He] used force or aggression against [the individual] knowingly and unlawfully," according to a statement acquired by People from the city attorney.
The woman involved has been mentioned in court and police documents as someone with whom Drayton is dating and who has a small child, though her name has not been revealed.
Their son told officials that when his mother lunged at his father, he broke up the fight and separated his parents.
Officers discovered a tiny cut on the woman's side of the face, "consistent with an altercation," Henderson police spokeswoman Katrina Farrell said, though it's unclear whether she required medical care.
Flav's attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, stated that the reality television star will save his version of events for the trial.
"There are frequently two sides to an alleged domestic abuse case, and we will tell our side in the courtroom, not in the media," they told the magazine.
His arrest came just a few days after he celebrated a year of sobriety.
"1 year up,,, lotz more to go,,, next year I pray my entire family will be on the same path I am," he tweeted Tuesday, alongside a tracking app snapshot and a before and after photo of himself from a year ago and today.
