Total harassment and disrespect: on receipt, woman sues bar over notice left

A Brazilian woman is suing a bar after a disrespectful message on the receipt was left by staff members.

Patricia Melo, a resident from Rio de Janeiro, was at a bar with her husband and friends when she went to pay the bill on January 10.

The 42-year-old found after receiving the receipt that among the things ordered, a comment had been left, referring to her, The Brazilian Mail notes.

"Moça do peitão" on the receipt, which loosely translates to "girl with large tits."

After the incident, Melo said she was left feeling humiliated while she was on social media.

"Total brutality and contempt. I never thought this was going to happen in my life,' she wrote.

For me, as a client, this is abuse!

"Don't be kidding. Don't think it's funny either. For you, it may be!

"I am a woman and I am worthy of respect."

Melo said that the bar manager apologized for the incident and said that it was "common" for employees to recognize clients based on their physical characteristics.

At present, the 42-year-old is suing the establishment.

Following the incident, the company responsible for the bar, Ambev, said it had re-trained workers to avoid the occurrence of similar incidents.

"We spoke to the client to apologize as soon as we heard about the incident," a spokesperson said.

We sincerely regret the occurrence of this situation and publicly affirm our apologies, which does not represent respect, which is one of our core values.

"We also report that we have internally investigated the case and have taken the appropriate steps with the staff involved, as well as strengthening the training with the entire team so that situations like this do not happen again."
