Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Vincent Jackson, 38, was found dead in a hotel room in Florida.
Vincent Jackson, a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver, was found dead late Monday morning at a hotel where he had been staying since Jan. 11. His body was reportedly found at 11:30 a.m. by a housekeeper.
According to news station WFLA, which says police found him in a Tampa-area hotel a few days later and called off the search, the three-time Pro Bowl pass-catcher was declared missing by his family on Feb. 10.
On Feb. 8, his former team won their second Super Bowl. With the Chargers, Jackson started his career in San Diego.
Jackson's cause of death has not been determined, but no signs of blunt trauma have been identified. Sheriff Chad Chronister mourned the loss of a man in his family, a football star in Tampa, and a leader in the community.
Not only football fans around the country, but also the people here in Hillsborough County who received the rewards of his generous donations will sorely miss him," Chronister said."
In 2018, Jackson was made an honorary deputy by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
