Senior police officer charged Laidley photo leak
A leading Victoria Police officer was charged earlier this year with leaked pictures of ex-coach Dani Laidley in custody.
The Age appointed detective senior constable Murray Gentner of the Southern Metro Region as the officer charged with one count of unauthorized access to police records, four counts of unauthorized disclosure of police information, and one count of public office misconduct.
He remains suspended and will appear at Melbourne's court in March.
This is not the first public eye detective leading constable Gentner.
He was the officer trailing James Gargasoulas up to the tragic massacre on Bourke Lane.
Ms Laidley's pictures in police custody were taken and reportedly shared illegally in May 2020.
"The investigation into these serious acts of misconduct remains ongoing," police said in a statement.
She was arrested on May 2 for stalking and other offences following a St Kilda home incident.
Around 274 police personnel were consulted regarding the leak.
Three of those investigated remain suspended, including two police officers and one police custody officer, pending possible disciplinary action.
Victoria Police said 46 people face internal disciplinary action, including 39 police officers and seven civil servants.
Ms Laidley coached North Melbourne in 2003.
She led the Kangaroos three times in 149 games before resigning in 2009 season.
