Sydney businessman and father-of-three killed in freak tree crash, named as golfer
Mates paid tribute to a great friend who would do anything for anyone after being identified as Sydney business owner and beloved local Craig Bury by a man killed by a falling tree branch in a freak accident on the NSW South Coast.
When the tree branch dropped on his head, the father-of-three was halfway through a weekly round of golf with three others at Mollymook yesterday.
It is known that when they heard a loud crack from above, he and a friend were looking for the missing golf ball under the tree.
Mr. Bury was a former resident of Sydney and owned a construction business, Aussie Weighbridge Systems, which worked out of Smeaton Grange in the south-west of Sydney.
For a number of years, the 51-year-old had resided on the South Coast, with locals claiming he had been a well-loved member of the group.
Just before 3pm, emergency services were called to the golf course at Clifford Close.
The other uninjured golfers were attempting to help Mr Bury before paramedics arrived.
Paramedics started CPR, but at the scene, he died.
Out of consideration for a long-time participant, the Mollymook golf course remained closed today.
