Amanda Lemos was tapped by Jessica Andrade, who did the first UFC standing arm-triangle ever, at UFC Fight Night 205.
In the main event of UFC Fight Night 205 in Las Vegas on Saturday, the former strawweight champion won the first standing arm-triangle choke submission in UFC history. Amanda Lemos was the top contender in the fight. The official stoppage of Round 1 came at 3:13 of the first match.
Andread made short work of Lemos in a fight that was getting more and more heated.
While the fight was going on, Lemos (11-2-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) did well. At least, that's how it looked like Andrade (23-9 MMA, 14-7 UFC) was being bent over by her hard leg kicks. Then, in a quick move, Andrade grabbed Lemos' neck and left arm and put him in the "arm triangle."
She kept a tight, steady squeeze from there. Lemos tried to stay calm and fight it off, but it got too bad and she had to give up.
With this record-setting result, Andrade was able to get back to 115 pounds. During her flyweight career, the Brazilian won two out of three fights. Her only defeat came when she took on champion Valentina Shevchenko in a title fight.
Andrade has won two fights in a row. He beat Cynthia Calvillo in a flyweight fight last September at UFC 266. The former UFC champion has lost three of her last six fights in the octagon. Zhang Weili and Shevchenko were both in title fights when Zhang Weili lost and Shevchenko won.
Afterward, Andrade asked for a title shot. She won UFC Fight Night 205.
"This is my division," Andrade said after her fight in the ring. "I'm going to do my best here." I know I'm ready to fight for the title again. The only way I'll be there is if you give me a chance. I'll be here and I'll be ready.
Lemos, on the other hand, saw a five-fight winning streak come to an end. She hadn't lost since her first UFC fight in 2017.
