A Texas mother has been charged with the murders of her 1- and 6-year-old children.
According to a story, a Texas mother was charged with the murders of her two young daughters after reportedly turning herself in and confessing to the crimes Monday night.
Madison McDonald, 30, reportedly admitted to police that she sedated her twins — 1-year-old Lillian Mae McDonald and 6-year-old Archer Hammond — before smothering them to death.
McDonald reached the Irving Police Department's headquarters and used a lobby phone to dial 911 and confess to the crimes, according to the Irving Police Department.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by the outlet, the woman, who lives alone with her two daughters, told police that her children had been abused.
McDonald said as a result that she would do anything to protect her children, including "eradicate" them, according to the affidavit.
The bodies of the victims were discovered by police who responded to McDonald's apartment.
An autopsy will determine the official causes of death for the children.
According to the paper, "we're attempting to determine why" the mother allegedly murdered her daughters.
“We will never know why, and there will never be a definition or justification for the murder of two small children,” Reeves said.
McDonald faces two counts of capital murder, according to the article.
