Damian Lillard of the Blazers puts a video of him playing with Kevin Durant on his IG story.
Damian Lillard could be planning something.
The best player for the Trail Blazers posted a picture of himself and Kevin Durant in a Portland jersey on Instagram on Saturday.
People were shocked by the post, and some accused Lillard of messing with the data. Others came up with possible trades for the Nets forward.
Even Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic joined in the chaos by adding puzzle pieces to the photo-shopped picture and posting it on Twitter.
Kyrie Irving's contract situation has caused trouble for the Nets and made people wonder about Durant's future with the team.
The Blazers want to build around their star player, Lillard. In February, Portland traded away CJ McCollum, who was the team's second best player.
With Lillard turning 32 in July, the Blazers' chance to win a championship is starting to close, so a trade for another superstar like Durant would help Portland.
Even if Lillard and Durant were to play together, which is very unlikely, it wouldn't mean that the Blazers would be a lock to win the championship.
Any deal Portland made for Durant would involve giving up something. This could be important position players like Nurkic or Anfernee Simons for Portland.
The two stars both have max contracts, and Durant signed a four-year, $198 million extension during last year's off-season. Together, they would cost them cap space.
The Blazers are still trying to build their team around the point guard. At No. 7 in the 2022 NBA Draft on Thursday, Portland chose Shaedon Sharpe.
