Prior to the alleged attack, a video of De Goey is released.
A video of AFL star Jordan De Goey inside a New York bar before to his arrest for alleged violence has emerged on Instagram.
Jordan De Goey was filmed partying inside a New York nightclub on Saturday, just hours before he was arrested.
As initially reported by the New York Daily News, the Collingwood star was detained and charged with violence during an alleged nightclub confrontation.
The 25-year-old has been accused with assault and forcible contact.
On Sunday morning, the Collingwood Football Club issued a brief statement stating that the club had yet to talk with the footballer.
"Collingwood is aware of a report that Jordan De Goey was involved in an incident. The club is seeking to contact Jordan, who is now in the United States of America, to ascertain the facts of the incident," according to the club's statement.
"Until that time, the club will be unable to speak further."
Additionally, the AFL issued a statement indicating that the league's integrity section will conduct an investigation into the claimed incident once additional circumstances are established.
"The Australian Football League has been approached by the Collingwood Football Club regarding a report involving player Jordan De Goey, who is currently overseas," the statement stated.
"Collingwood is making touch with Jordan in order to get additional information. The AFL's Integrity Department will investigate the incident whenever additional evidence is acquired; until then, the AFL is unable to comment."
According to the story, police have released a statement alleging De Goey was partying at the PHD Rooftop Lounge at the Dream Hotel on Saturday around 2 a.m. local time.
De Goey and a companion, Luke Dyson, approached a 35-year-old woman on the dancefloor and grabbed her.
According to the New York Daily News, the Australian pair were involved in a physical argument with a 37-year-old man who is a friend of the woman involved.
The man apparently suffered a split lip as a result of Dyson's claimed strike with a glass bottle.
De Goey and Dyson were reportedly apprehended after the victim dialed 911 emergency services.
Dyson is a well-known tattoo artist with over 75,000 Instagram followers.
He shared images of their night out together on his Instagram Stories, including footage of De Goey dancing naked.
The Collingwood star is in the United States as part of a pre-season training program.
Collingwood, according to Channel 7 reporter Mitch Cleary, was unaware of the incident earlier that morning.
