Polo G, a Miami rapper, was arrested early Saturday morning following a traffic stop.
According to online jail records, the "Rapstar" artist was charged with five counts, including battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.
Cops conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with Polo G inside, according to local NBC affiliate WTVJ. Taurus Bartlett, 22, was not driving.
According to local ABC affiliate WPLG, police said someone in the car mentioned it was bulletproof, prompting them to search for firearms. Officers requested that everyone step outside for the search, but the driver and passengers reportedly did not immediately comply.
According to WPLG, cops stated that Bartlett and others physically resisted the order. The rapper was arrested shortly after 8 a.m. on Saturday. He was charged with battery on a police officer, threatening a public servant, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest on two counts.
According to online records, Bartlett's bail was posted by Saturday afternoon.
“None of these charges would be possible without the POLICE contacting my son Polo G!!! In a tweet, Bartlett's mother stated. “NOT HE WAS THE DRIVER. He was a PASSENGER in a properly licensed and secured vehicle. He moved deftly and correctly. What could he possibly have done more.”
Miami police stated that the arrest was captured on body camera and security camera footage and that the incident would be investigated internally.
According to WPLG, cops discovered two guns in the vehicle. It was unclear who owned the firearms or whether they were properly registered.
Earlier in the evening, Bartlett hosted a party in honor of the release of his new album, "Hall of Fame."
