The sex scene in The Time Traveler's Wife shocks people.

The latest episode of a popular new romantic show took a weird turn and showed one of the "wildest" sex scenes of the year.

We know that sex sells, but the "disturbing" X-rated scene in HBO's latest drama series may have gone too far.

In episode two of The Time Traveler's Wife, a new TV show on Binge based on the popular 2003 book, the main character, Henry DeTamble, uses his ability to travel through time to prank his teenage self. Yes, you did read it right.

In what one reviewer called "the craziest oral sex scene in the history of television," 25-year-old US actor Brian Altemus plays 16-year-old Henry, who is lying in bed and getting oral sex from another version of himself.

Then, his dad Richard walks in on him in the middle of his act, just as Henry comes out from under the quilt.

The Time Traveler's Wife 1x01 / Kissing Scene — Clare and Henry

In a flashback, 28-year-old Henry (Theo James) tells 20-year-old Clare Abshire (Rose Leslie), who is interested in him, how his father first found out that he could travel through time.

"I mean, I'm not gay … but you know? "You would, wouldn't you?" Henry asks Clare as he tells her about the embarrassing moment. Clare looks confused.

Not everyone seems to agree with Henry, as people took to social media to say how shocked they were by the explicit scene:

Audrey Niffenegger's book does describe the scene in detail.

The story of The Time Traveler's Wife, which was also made into a movie in 2009 starring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana, is about a man named Henry who can't help but go back in time.

Because of a genetic flaw, he jumps into and out of his own past, always ending up with the people he cares about most.

One of these people is Clare, whom he visits as a child from age 6 to 18, until they meet in the same timeline when she is 20 and he is 28.

Steven Moffat wrote the scripts for the show to be shown on TV (Sherlock, Doctor Who).
