After an elderly man was reportedly bashed to death, a woman was charged.
Last year, a 45-year-old woman was charged with murder in the death of an elderly Coburg man.
Kon Kritikos, 87, was left on the floor with serious injuries for up to 512 hours before being discovered by a family member on November 11. He died in the hospital two weeks later.
On Tuesday, Danielle Lee Birchall, of Kurunjang, was arrested and charged with murder, two weeks after police appealed for details about the assault.
Ms Birchall appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon via video connection and was remanded. Her next court appearance is scheduled for July 27.
Mr Kritikos' son discovered him critically wounded at his Reynard Street home just before 11 p.m., and police believe he was attacked between 3.30 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. that day.
Mr Kritikos was taken to the hospital, but on November 24, he died.
When officers arrived at Mr Kritikos' house, they found a 45-year-old Kurunjang woman who was known to him. Police interviewed the woman and another man at the time, but they were later released.
Mr Kritikos was “vulnerable and home alone” when he was stabbed, Detective Inspector Tim Day said last month, with Mr Kritikos lying critically wounded in his home for hours, “no doubt frightened and in pain” and unable to call for help.
Detective Inspector Day said, "He was a man of impeccable integrity, who was much respected, worked hard, and paid his taxes."
“This was an extremely brutal assault on one of our community's most vulnerable members.”
