A Chicago police officer was arrested Thursday in connection with the death of a 29-year-old woman who was discovered unresponsive at a residence on the city's Northwest side.

According to relatives and authorities, an off-duty Chicago cop was detained for fatally shooting his child's mother, who was about to break up with him.

The cop — who was not identified because he had not been prosecuted — was arrested early Thursday after Andris Wofford, 29, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the chin at a home on the city's Northwest side, according to WFLD.

Wofford's sister told the station that she had been dating the cop for two to three years and had a nine-month-old child with him but intended to divorce him and co-parent their child.

"Everyone is stunned," said Chquita Bell, Wofford's sister. "Everyone is inconsolable. Confused. We were not prepared for this. We had no idea it had progressed to this stage."

Wofford, who also had a six-year-old child, was a social worker, according to WFLD. Her father went to the officer's residence and subsequently called police after another sister was unable to reach her Thursday morning to bring up her child, Bell said.

"She's so young, so energetic, and so alive," Bell said of her sister, who was pursuing a master's degree. "She adored her job, her career, her schooling, and everything about her. She was truly committing the act."

WFLD did not identify the cop accused of murdering Wofford. He was removed of his police authority and was being questioned by detectives in connection with the incident, a Chicago police spokesman told The Post Friday.

"At this moment, there is no additional information," the spokeswoman stated.

According to sources at the Chicago Sun-Times, Wofford had filed a complaint against the officer alleging domestic violence.

Wofford, whose body was located in a property in the 2100 block of North Nashville Avenue, was a resident of the same block, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Since early November, this is the second fatal domestic incident involving an off-duty Chicago cop. On Nov. 2, a female off-duty cop fatally shot her husband — another Chicago cop — during an altercation over a pistol in their house near O'Hare International Airport.
