A man was shot outside the trendy New York City restaurant's outdoor dining area.
On Wednesday night, a man dining outside an expensive Chinese restaurant in Manhattan was shot in the leg while attempting to fend off two armed thieves, police and witnesses said.
At approximately 10 p.m., two male suspects approached Philippe Chow on East 60th Street near Madison Avenue and robbed a 31-year-old diner of his Rolex watch, authorities said.
The couple then targeted a 28-year-old guy sitting nearby, who officials say was shot in the leg as he wrestled with the accused.
According to police and sources, the gunshot victim was transported to Weill Cornell Medical Center and is expected to live.
A restaurant hostess witnessed some of the mayhem and stated that the robbery victim was shot when he resisted the thieves' demands.
“The gentleman stated that he would not give him his watch,” the woman stated. “They fired one shot at him.”
“It was public, in plain view of everyone. And when he refused, they simply drew the gun. It's terrifying," she stated.
The robbers made their getaway in a light blue Mercedes. No arrests were made immediately.
In October 2018, following a dispute outside the same restaurant, a security for rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was shot in the stomach.
