A Russian pop star who was against the war in Ukraine says she is now in Israel.

Alla Pugacheva's husband has been called a "foreign agent," and three weeks ago she spoke out against invasion.

Alla Pugacheva, a Russian pop singer, said she is in Israel. This is three weeks after she spoke out against Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine and her husband being called a "foreign agent" by Moscow.

"I thank my millions of fans for their love and support, and for being able to tell the difference between truth and lies," the "queen of Soviet pop music" said in an Instagram post on Monday. She is 73 years old.

She told her 3.4 million followers, "From the Holy Land, I pray for you and for peace." "I'm glad!"

Pugacheva, who has sold more than 250 million records, was a huge star in the Soviet Union and has stayed that way for more than 55 years. She is one of the most well-known people in the Russian-speaking world, thanks to hits like "Million Scarlet Roses" (1982) and "The Woman Who Sings" (1978).

Maxim Galkin, a TV host and comedian, was called a "foreign agent" in September along with journalists, human rights activists, and people who were against the Kremlin because they were against the invasion.

The couple left Russia for Israel soon after the war started in February. Galkin, who is 46, is eligible for Israeli citizenship under the country's law of return, which lets people with Jewish roots get Israeli citizenship.

Pugacheva, on the other hand, seems to have moved back to Russia with their two children before the new school year started. In September, she was in Moscow for the funeral of former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.

Last month, after Galkin was named, the singer made a strong statement against the war in Ukraine in an Instagram post that was an address to the Russian justice ministry.

She wrote, "Please put me on the list of foreign agents in my beloved country."

"Because I stand with my husband, who is a good person with strong morals, a true and unchangeable Russian patriot who only wants prosperity, peace, and freedom of speech in his motherland."

The artist said that her husband wanted to "stop killing our boys for silly goals that make our country a pariah and put a lot of stress on the lives of its citizens."

RIA Novosti, which is part of the Russian government, says that Pugacheva is now being investigated for "smearing" the Russian army. When people in the United States spoke out against the invasion of Ukraine, they were fined or sent to prison.

Since the start of the war, about 24,000 Russians have moved to Israel, and another 35,000 are waiting for their papers to be processed, according to the Jewish Agency, which helps Jews move to Israel.

Since the war started, Israel has tried to stay out of it. The country depends on Moscow to help with its military operations in Syria, which is right next door. However, its western allies have been putting pressure on it to impose sanctions and take strong diplomatic action.

Even though Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, has criticized Russia, it has sent humanitarian aid but not military help.

In June, the Russian justice ministry said that the Jewish Agency should be shut down because it broke privacy laws.

Yair Lapid, who is acting as Israel's prime minister, has said that closing the Jewish Agency's offices would be very bad for relations between the two countries.
