A murder investigation has been opened after a man was shot and killed in Adelaide.
A murder investigation has been conducted in South Australia after a 49-year-old man was discovered shot dead north of Adelaide.
Just before 3 a.m. today, emergency personnel rushed to news of a deadly shooting on Brady Street in Virginia.
"Police believe both parties involved in these situations are acquainted," said Northern District Detective Inspector Mark Gallagher.
"Police are currently speaking with a variety of people who can help them with their investigations. We're also looking for a gun that was used in the incident."
Many that support police, according to Det Insp Gallagher, are not considered criminals.
"We are also in the early stages of the inquiry and are following up on a variety of leads. No one has been detained so far "he said
"It is being treated as a murder case. It's too soon to say what kind of weapon was used."
A major operation involving officers from the Special Tasks and Rescue Group was conducted.
Just before 9 a.m., police searched a house on nearby Odgers Street in Virginia.
Officers later stated that two individuals from the house are helping them with their investigations, and that a suspect is still at large.
However, police have confirmed that there is no threat to the public.
The crime scene on Brady Street is currently being investigated by forensic experts.
The area is also closed to the public.
