TikTok star and three others were killed in a horrific crash following a police chase.
Gabriel Salazar, a TikTok celebrity with more than 2.2 million followers on the social media network, died in a violent crash in Texas, authorities said. Three other individuals were killed in the crash.
Salazar, 19, was pulled over by a Crystal City police officer at 1.20 a.m. last Sunday in Zavala County, roughly 160 kilometers outside of San Antonio, according to the Zavala County Sheriff's Office.
The reason for the vehicle's stop is unknown.
The officer then stated that he was pursuing the vehicle, a white Chevrolet Camaro.
According to the sheriff's office, a deputy joined the pursuit and attempted to deploy a tire deflation device but was unsuccessful.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, which is handling the investigation into the collision, the "Chevrolet Camaro veered off the road, overcorrected, and traveled across the roadway, into the west barrow ditch."
“The vehicle collided with some trees, rolled several times, and caught fire.”
The automobile is engulfed in flames in photographs from the incident.
Salazar, who gained notoriety on TikTok as "gabenotbabe" and amassed an Instagram following of more than 800,000, was declared dead at the scene, officials said.
Also killed were Jose Luis Jimenez-Mora, 41, Jose Molina-Lara, 23, and Sergio Espinoza-Flores, 36.
According to the public safety authority, the three passengers were Mexican nationals.
Salazar was a native of San Antonio.
